SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN

On Sundays we gather for song in Tucker Hall at 9:15.  All classes begin at 9:30.

Godly Play Level 1 (Pre-K 3, 4 and K)

Godly Play Level 2 (1st, 2nd and 3rd)

Children learn key texts from Scripture in an imaginative, creative, participatory and meaningful way. Godly Play is based on the Montessori method and uses this unique approach to religious education to invite children to wonder about themselves, God and the world. By telling Biblical stories, using story figurines and other creative activities, children are encouraged to seek and find their own answers to their faith questions.  Find out more about the method at www.godlyplay.org

Koinonia (grades 4-6)

Koinonia means "community" in Greek, and that is what this class is all about!  Children begin to interpret and engage Scripture in a way that is personally meaningful.  They also begin to form a bond as a group, playing together and learning together while setting the framework for their future experience in the youth programs at Old Donation.  They use the dynamic new curriculum, Live BIG, supplemented with additional activities.  A few times a year the class gets together outside of Sunday School for fellowship events like a baseball game, swimming or a cookout.

Vacation Bible School

Every Summer, we host an exciting VBS for nearly 100 children in grades Pre-K through 5 in the last week of July.

Old Donation Family Ministry

... for families with elementary aged children!

We sponsor regular outings for families to fellowship with one another outside of Sunday mornings and learn more about the church.  Events have included a trip to the Virginia Air and Space Museum, a field-trip to Hunt Club Farm, a Day at the Bay, Christmas Cookie Decorating and Caroling, and instructed Eucharist on the beach, a Holy Week Blitz and more!
