Commissions of Old Donation
Come join us and make Old Donation your church home!

Christian Formation Commission

Christian Formation serves all parishioners and provides programs for spiritual formation that assist children, youth and adults on their spiritual journeys through the development of a loving, faith-filled community in which God's story and the participant's story are shared and celebrated.

(Children at play on our church grounds.)

Congregational Care Commission

Congregational Care is part of the "in-reach" of the parish.  Pastoral Care is the ministry of visiting those who are in crisis, those who are sick, those who are shut-in, those who are in need of knowing God's presence.  We visit everywhere and anywhere -- hospitals, retirement homes, and regular homes.

Evangelism Commission

The mission of the Evangelism Commission is to proclaim the Good News of God in Christ, helping others to come to know Jesus Christ in the fullness of a relationship lived in the Church. The Commission will help members learn how to communicate what God is doing in our own lives, especially in the life at Old Donation Church. This communication will attract newcomers to our church. The Commission will help newcomers feel wanted and needed, integrate them within the life of the church to foster a sense of community with all other members.

Outreach Commission

The Outreach Commission seeks to utilize the time, talent and treasure of the Old Donation community to serve the larger community -- to ease suffering and to provide opportunities for spiritual growth.  We engage in a variety of service projects, including the Mission of the Holy Spirit in Norfolk, Camp Wakonda, assisting local Food Banks, missions, and projects to benefit those in the armed forces.

Parish Life Commission

The Parish Life Commission handles the events of the parish which draw us together as a family, from the coffee hours and special receptions to special events such as the Annual Oyster Roast.  The Commission's responsibilities include the maintenance and improvements of the kitchen.

(The usual hustle and bustle in the kitchen.)

The Bridge Group meets Monday morning and Tuesday night.  It is open to the whole community, for people with all skill levels.

The Men's Breakfast meets every Wednesday from 7-8 AM.  A different member is responsible for choosing the topic and leading the program each week.  Topics range from secular to religious.

Other activities that are included in Parish Life:

  • First Circle

  • Foyer Group

  • Oyster Roast and Bazaar

  • The Knit Wits

  • The Bereavement Group

  • Women of Old Donation Episcopal Church

There's always something going on at Old Donation!

Stewardship Commission

We are all stewards of God's bounty. The Stewardship Commission is charged with organizing and implementing all aspects of the stewardship effort of the parish.  The Stewardship Commission focuses on organizing parishioners' contributions of time and talent and treasure necessary to support the mission of Old Donation.  In addition, the Stewardship Commission will be studying options available with planned giving as part of one's estate plan.  These will be shared with parishioners as requested.

Worship Commission

The Worship Commission is chaired by the Rector and is composed of the chairs of the Lay Readers, Altar Guild, Flower Guild, Ushers, Acolytes, as well as other clergy, and the Organist.
