Old Donation Episcopal Church

Evangelism Commission

The mission of the Evangelism Commission is to proclaim the Good News of God in Christ, helping others to come to know Jesus Christ in the fullness of a relationship lived in the Church. The Commission will help members learn how to communicate what God is doing in our own lives, especially in the life at Old Donation Church. This communication will attract newcomers to our church. The Commission creates and fosters an environment that helps newcomers feel wanted and needed, integrate them within the life of the church to foster a sense of community with all other members.

The Evangelism Commission is composed of three separate committees covering aspects of this ministry. They are: Intentional Evangelism, Welcoming Committee, and New Member Ministries.

Current Goals of the Evangelism Committee are:

1. Helping the parish become more effective at communicating the "Good News" - the committee's work of intentional evangelism.

2. Implementing evangelism efforts for the parish so our members can be more effective in their own personal evangelism.

Current Goals of the Welcoming Committee are:

1. Continue to strengthen our active ministry of welcoming that includes greeters, Bake and Take, and newcomer orientations and suppers.

Current Goals of the New Member Ministries are:

1. Help new members find communities, small groups, or ministries to become involved with so they build a sense of community.

2. Educate and inform all members about ways to be involved in community.

Vision for evangelism from our Long Range Plan:

Share Christ’s message of good news with our neighbors, helping others to see what God is doing in our lives, particularly in the life of our parish. The consequential growth from members of our closest neighborhoods should result in our own community more closely reflecting the diversity of those neighborhoods. We will invite all people to participate in our common life and ministry so they too can enjoy the fruits of God's abundant life.
