 ODEC supports this effort with a number of ministries:KAIROS - This is a Christian, ecumenical, volunteer, lay-led continuing ministry to prisoners incarcerated in a maximum or medium security facility. Virginia Beach Jail Chaplains - ODEC supports this ministry by providing funding for the chaplains who minister to the jail. The chaplains rely solely on the support of the churches in the area to allow them to minister to those who are in need. ONESIMUS - This ministry is a halfway house for the re-integration of prison inmates after they have been released. ODEC supports this project with a yearly monetary donation.
Angel Tree - This ministry provides gifts for children of inmates. The caregivers are notified that an inmate would like their child to receive a gift on their behalf. Then an angel is placed on the tree for someone to select and purchase the gift for the child. Two gifts are presented to each child - a "practical" gift and a "fun" gift.
